Budget: a budget room, markets and home-prepared meals, public transport. Comfort: a mid-range room, restaurants and a hire car. Both profiles include a sightseeing budget.

To add: arrival flights or ferries, baggage, transfers, fuel, tolls, parking, insurance, local accommodation taxes, beaches and major excursions, depending on your plans. These reference examples stay fixed; the calculator adapts the totals to your settings.

What do 7, 10 or 15 days cost?

Amounts are for your group and calculator settings, excluding arrival travel and extra costs.

What affects the cost in Abruzzo

Coast, villages and mountains: begin with the stops that interest you.

Pescara or the mountains?

A coastal stay and a base near Gran Sasso suit different trips. Compare accommodation in the areas where you want to spend your days, then add the journeys between them.

Plan your transport

For a trip linking villages and trailheads, allow for car hire, fuel and parking. If you prefer public transport, check the connections your itinerary needs before committing to that option.

Match your budget to your activities

Walking, beaches and village visits can keep costs down. Add guided outings, equipment hire and any mountain activities you plan to book separately.

Questions to help plan your budget

How should I budget for getting there?

To reach Pescara or your first mountain stop, compare the complete journey from your departure point. Include baggage and transfers when flying, or tolls and fuel if you drive.

Can you travel without a car?

Staying in Pescara and travelling between Gran Sasso villages involve different constraints. For a mountain itinerary, check every connection and the return journey from trailheads before choosing public transport.

When should I travel to keep costs down?

On the coast, compare July and August with June and September. A mountain ski trip needs a different calculation: lift passes, equipment and accommodation near the slopes. A summer multiplier applied to the entire region does not describe both kinds of holiday.

What does it cost solo, as a couple or as a family?

For two adults and two children, compare a self-catering rental with two hotel rooms. Add equipment and guided outings separately: their prices cannot be inferred automatically from the number of children.

2 adults and 2 children22 955 €

The family example assumes two rooms and half the adult meal and sightseeing budget per child. These are planning assumptions; check age-based prices and family accommodation rates.

Is it expensive to travel in Abruzzo ?

Your programme determines the budget. Compare coastal nights, mountain nights and paid activities separately; a walking holiday and a week of skiing are not equivalent comparisons.

How can I reduce the cost?

Group mountain days around a single base. Cheaper accommodation on the coast may offer little saving if you repeatedly drive to and from Gran Sasso.

Two weeks or 15 days: what is the difference?

Here, two weeks means 14 days and 13 nights. For two adults, one room and the comfort profile, the total is 3 775 € excluding arrival travel and extra costs. The 15-day scenario includes one more night.

Calculation method and price sources

All 20 regions have default values. The calculator uses DolceRoutes planning budgets supplemented on 30 September 2026; your custom destination prices take priority. These amounts are neither quotes for your dates nor regional statistical averages. Menus cited for the introduction were consulted on 30 September 2026. Ranges reflect prices at the selected venues, rather than guaranteed regional prices or statistical averages. A consultation date does not establish when an undated menu was updated. Meals refer to two courses per person, excluding drinks and cover charges, calculated from menus or average prices reported by restaurants on TheFork. Coffee prices come from bar or restaurant menus; table service may cost extra. Wine prices cover selected still wines in the serving size offered by each venue; premium wines, sparkling drinks and bottle prices are excluded. Beer brands and ranges may vary, including craft beers. Each local item is documented at two or more venues. A single amount means those venues showed the same price, rather than a fixed regional price.

Accommodation is counted per room per night. Meals are a budget per adult per day, rather than the price of one meal; the budget profile assumes groceries and simple meals. Transport and sightseeing are daily allowances, rather than specific ticket prices. The calculation multiplies the room rate by the number of rooms and nights. Meals include one more day than the number of nights; transport and sightseeing use as many days as nights. Adjust for your actual stay. Per-person amounts divide the group total.

Low season applies a factor of 0.75, and high season 1.30, to accommodation and car hire. These are assumptions rather than local monthly price surveys. Meals and activities for children under 12 are estimated at 50%; actual discounts depend on the provider. Car hire assumes one car for each group of up to five travellers.

Add flights, arrival ferries, baggage, transfers, fuel, tolls, parking, insurance, local accommodation taxes and major excursions. Check restricted traffic zones and access to your accommodation. A refundable deposit is not a final expense. Avoid counting meals, visits or transfers twice when they are already included.

Compare the same serving sizes and what is included.
